One day more....

Almost to the day! Looking like 180 battle level fully painted, 20 bl and Stompa with three colors. Not too bad considering the time I had plus field trips, sickness and a one year old.

Week started with a massive staining project. Luckily Sunday was a relatively nice day. Had a nice little wind to keep the fumes away. I in general like to brush army builder strong tone on not dip. I tend to use the stain and antishine on most models. The extra protection I think is needed the amount these and boardgame models bounce around.

So while those dried I started working on the last Ork unit. Got some green on them. Wednesday I managed to spray the stained models with antishine.

Yeah a reaper model got done with them. Seems appropriate since I'll be blown off the board by turn two! Then I started the thing I didn't expect to be so hard.

Wow. I couldn't believe how bad the instructions for the Stompa were. They numbered the parts then didn't use them in the instructions! I also feel whoever wrote it was told to use as little paper as possible. This left a good deal of guessing where things needed to go. But it is an Ork piece, so to be fair there isn't a right way to do it.

I used excess parts to finish up my 2nd truck and bonecrusha. Ran out of paint for the airbrush but they are coming along nicely.

Now just to remember the rules to 40k and an army I've never used!

Week 4 Approaches, can I finish?

So last week began with a weekend field trip then a little illness. I think I will have to accept I will be fully built but not fully painted, hopefully at least three colors per model. But who knows maybe weather will shift and Tuesday I can stain a little.

This week I did manage to build the personal bonecrusha of the warboss. He wanted a hover tank, so he got one. The model was interesting, but don't think I want to build one for any of my space Marines. The hover rails weren't bad, just lots of trimming. Debating on top gun.

Also built a few new Boyz to bring all the units up to 20.

The air brush helped get everything basecoated quickly. Got a number more models with a color or two.

The above models have their base colors done now too. Finally the first batch for staining are waiting to go.

Hoping for some nice weather and some time to paint!

Week 3 Snags

So week one and two were going pretty well. However, I knew this week would be problematic. A multi day/night field trip was going to kill time. Then I forgot my tools two days and got a little sniffle! On the other hand is I think I can finish the list in time. I have to assemble a battlewagon and a few Boyz. The painting will be the real challenge, particularly the gretchin. But in terms of building...

I know nob bikers are no longer the range but I always wanted to build some.

Now that the majority is built time to prime!

So trying my airbrush for this army. This will be my first time doing vehicles. Wow, does it save time! I still need to improve my skill but I blame the gretchin who paint the Ork vehicles.

Hopefully next week more painting will get done!

Week 2 Ork Challenge Update

Good news, progress was made!

Good news, two Apocalypse games to go to!

Bad news..... the Ork one is the end if this month. So two weeks shorter. Possible? Sure but with shoveling, a 2 day field trip, courses, car fun, it will be a challenge!

But a lot done this week. Building wise, a few vehicles formed during lunch.

The new Ork vehicles go together pretty easily. Speed Freaks is a nice purchase. Hopefully get to the bikes on Monday. Now, I said not a lot of conversions. However, I couldn't resist making some of my Bad Moons Meganobz out of the shinest armor one could loot from humies. 1st a test model then the team

Might make them the biggest targets but a good use of a bit of Burning Prospero. Of course Bad Moons need an expensive ride plus some protection for all de gud stuf.

Probably add some moons and decorations. Now, those who know me, building fast isn't a problem. Painting tends to be my big problem. But progress has been made over a few nights.

The Orks started taking over the tray. Lootas, Boyz, warboss, nobz, and painboyz are getting done.

I figure anything using army painter shade needs to be done by Monday the 25th. That will give it time to dry then get a seal coat. Will I make it? We shall see.

Challenge Accepted

So, I planned a number of projects. I got them all set up, used some time off to organize them. Then I got invited to an Apocalypse game in little over a month. I love Apocalypse and the craziness of a full day game. My followers of Grandpa Nurgle were ready to spread his joy.

Yeah, whole top shelf is fully painted Nurgle.

Maybe I'd even paint a few of my new pieces. Oh, wait its Imperium versus Orks. Well not really in the mood to work on Dark Angels, my most painted. Blood Angels need an insane amount of work. Plus my Bad Moonz Orks have been screaming for paint.

So only about 30 power level are painted, 100 power level built and I need 200 without lords of war. Quite a challenge in 6 weeks. However my Nurgle was done in a similar speed. Going to need to use some lunch time and not get distracted by too many converions. But that primaris tank really needs a deffrolla...

Day 1 successful increase in shoota Boyz.

Some more done on day two. Current resist some modifications. After all Orks gotta impruv on hummie stuff.

Looking forward to this challenge.
